We had a seminar on superconducting quantum computers and spintronics by Prof. Daeyeon Kim from Ewha Womans University. It was a great time learning how superconducting qubits work and how spintronics can be utilized in a quantum computer. Thanks to the speaker! 😌

We attended 2026 FAST in Phuket, Thailand! We had fruitful discussion with many other spintronics researchers all around the world, being a great opportunity for us to learn. We had a dinner with Avci from ICMAB and Qiming Shoa from Kang Wang's group. Moreover, Yubin and Hyeonjin won the presentation awards for the best poster. Congratulation! 😊

Our professor, San, Hyeonjin, and Dokyeong attended the 33rd Korean Conference on Semiconductors at Jeongseon. With our effort to expand the future of Spintronics even to semiconductors, we also had a delightful dinner with Prof. Soogil Lee, Prof. Kitae Eom, and their students from Gachon University 😊.

One of our group's alumni, Dr. Moojune Song, who is currently working at Argonne National Laboratory has visited our group as he is temporalily staying in Korea. He gave us a seminar about Quantum Magnonics and had a meal together 🤗.
2026 신년을 맞아 교수님을 포함한 모든 연구실 구성원들과 가족분들, 박정민 박사님과 사모님까지 함께 신년회를 가졌습니다. 연구실 구성원들의 지난 해의 목표를 돌아보고 올해의 새로운 목표를 세우며 서로 독려하는 시간을 가졌으며, 올해의 역할 분담도 나누며 새로운 랩장님의 대관식을 가졌습니다. 붉은 말의 해인만큼 모두 활기찬 연구실 생활 되시기를 바랍니다!!
For the 2026 new year's celebration, every member of USDL including our professor, professor Park and their family members gathered together. Our members had a time of reflection on the last year and set the New Year's resolutions with encouragement. We also assigned the new roles of our members, appointing of our new lab representative! Wishing you another exciting lab-life in the year of the Red Horse 🐴!!

As 2025 comes to an end, we held a year-end gathering. We all enjoyed a delicious meal together and also took time to celebrate the birthdays of our lab members whose birtdays fall on the 29th, 30th, and 31st. Thank you all for your hard work thoughout the year, USDL! We would also like to thank our professor for his trust and support throughout the year.❤
부산 벡스코에서 열린 2025 ICAMD에 다녀왔습니다! 평소에 접해보지 못한 다양한 주제에 대한 발표들을 들으며 시야를 넓히고, 세계 각국에서 오신 연구자 분들과 이야기를 나눠볼 수 있는 귀중한 시간이었습니다. 연구실 멤버들 모두 적극적으로 질문하고 이야기 나누며 다양한 사람들을 만나는 뜻깊은 학회였습니다. 항상 좋은 기회를 만들어주시는 교수님께 감사드립니다 !!
We attended 2025 ICAMD held in BEXCO, Busan. It was a valuable opportunity to broaden perspective by attending presentations on a wide range of topics that we do not usually encounter, and engage in conversations with researchers from around the world. We actively asked questions, exchanged ideas, and met diverse people, making a truly meaningful experience. We would like to sincerely thank our professor for always providing us with such great opportunities !!

We attended 2025 KMS Winter Conference held in Busan. Youngseon Soon, Do Kyeong Nam, and San Ko gave an oral presentation and Geon-Woo Baek, Seyeob Jeong, and Yubin Ji presented poster! We had a joyful and rewarding experience eating a lot of delicious foods of Busan and communicating with other laboratorys about various topics. Congratulations to Geon-Woo Baek on receiving the Best Poster Presentation Award, and to Seyeop Jeong, the raffle winner!!!🎇🎉

Our lab members—Youngseon Soon, Hyunjin Kim, Seoung-jin Yang, Jiseong Kim—along with our intern students attended the 10th Summer School of Magnetics held at KAIST, Daejeon. The program begin with our professor's lecture on "How to Give a Good Presentation" and continued with excellent talks on magnetism. It was a truly valuable opportunity to learn and engage with members of the magnetics community!

Dr. Young-Gwan Choi from the Max Planck Institute in Dresden, Germany, visited KAIST and gave a seminar on "Quantum sensing with NV centers". After the talk, our students presented their reserach results, followed by a meaningful discussion over dinner. We sincereley thank Dr. Choi for his visit and look forward to the possibility of exciting collaborations in the future.

Our professor delivered the keynote session on the topic "Spintronics Meets Quantum", and Dr. Moojune Song and San Ko gave oral presentations. For the poster session, San Ko, Youngseon Soon, and Do Kyeong Nam participated as presenters!

On a beautiful spring day when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, we held the USDL Strawberry Party! We had a joyful time eating delicious strawberries and pizza, sharing stories and listening to our professor's amazing guitar perfomance. Dr. Mujin You and Youngseon Soon visited Prof. Teruo Ono's group in Kyoto University for the fabrication and measurement. Even though it was a short trip, we had a valuable time obtaining meaningful results and interacting with researchers in Japan. Thanks again to everyone who helped with our experiment!
